For anyone who knows what we mean when we say 'Big Fish Little Fish Cardboard Box', or perhaps even remembers doing it on a crowded dance floor probably in a university town somewhere in 1990s Europe, Party Monsters' family-friendly rave is set to be the perfect opportunity to relive your heyday - this time with the kids in tow.

Launching on 11 November at The Backyard at The Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay, and scheduled to take place from 12noon to 5pm on the second Saturday of every month from November 2017 to April 2018, Party Monsters aims to recreate the festival feel in a safe and fun environment for new and experienced ravers of all ages.

While your raving memories (or lack thereof) may not be of the child-friendly variety, these events are geared up to give you a blast from the past while your little ones also have a ball, with soft play and baby sensory areas set up alongside top DJs pounding out club classics (at a reduced sound level for sensitive ears, naturally).

Party Monsters is founded by Vip Patel, also the owner of dad blog, Dubai Dad, and Tim Woodstock, champion of the Drum and Bass genre in the UAE and founder of Bassworx.

Vip says: “The rave culture rose massively in the 90s and early noughties and ravers from those generations are now starting families. Party Monsters is giving them the opportunity to share this experience, in a controlled, family friendly environment, with their children.”

Infants and toddlers at Party Monsters will enjoy multiple stimuli at the Soft Play Chill Out Zone, with ball pool, tents and tunnels, as well as a baby sensory dance floor with bubble machines, parachute and pompoms, giant balloons and kid friendly club lighting and visuals.

“Drawing on our collective experience as new parents and veteran promoters within the nightlife industry in the region, we saw an opportunity to start something different for families much like our own. We’ve paid attention to detail and given a lot of thought to what our audience would like in an afternoon to unwind and listen to good music from back in the day, and better yet, share it with their families,” says Tim.

The event will also feature an Arts and Crafts area, face painting and balloon animals and baby changing and feeding stations. Adults and children will also have the opportunity to enjoy arcade games at the Hub Zero arcade station.

To make things a bit more fun, there will be optional fancy dress themes every month, giving kids a chance to dress up as their favourite animals and characters. The November launch event is themed Jungle Friends and Party Monsters invites guests of all ages to come dressed as jungle animals.

The venue will house a licensed bar and a host of F&B options specifically designed to cater to toddlers, kids and adults

Tickets are priced at Dh70 per adult and Dh35 for kids, while children under two enter free. The fee includes access to all areas and a party bag with glow sticks, earplugs and discount vouchers to some of Dubai’s top family attractions.

Tickets will go on sale shortly and can be purchased on
