1. Ride Safer Travel Vest
Wondering how on earth you’re going to transport your toddler’s car seat? The Ride Safer Travel Vest is an ingenious, lightweight, easily transportable solution that keeps kids aged 3 and upwards safe in a moving vehicle without the need for a bulky car seat or booster. Worn like a vest, the three-point seatbelt is threaded through the restraint system to keep little one safe and secure, and you can also buy an extension to make it work with a lap belt. It’s been crash-tested as a harness and meets or exceeds all US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS 213) crash test requirements – although the previous model was certified for use in Europe in conjunction with a booster seat (as the EU requires children to be elevated), the current model has not yet been certified for use in Europe - see here for more details. Aimed at kids weighing between 13.6kg and 36kg, this could also be an easy solution for travelling with kids in taxis here in the UAE. From Dh938 from Whizz.ae

2. BabyZen YoYo stroller
Fed up of having to schlep baby and bags to the arrivals carousel because your stroller is still in the hold? The wonderful YoYo stroller from BabyZen has become a cult travel item because it folds up small enough to fit in the overhead locker! Lightweight (6.2kg to be exact)  and easily manoeuvrable but still sturdy, it’s the perfect travel stroller. So far we’ve taken it on an Airbus A330, an Airbus A380, a Boeing 777 and even a few Easyjet short-hauls with no issues whatsoever. Dh2,149 from Sprii.com

INSIDER TIP: A cheaper version of the well-known Babyzen Yoyo is the Geoby Pockit stroller, which weighs only 5.8kg, folds up small enough to fit in the overhead lockers of most airline cabins, and is suitable for ages 6 months to 36 months (although mums have warned us it isn't the sturdiest, but fine for travel purposes). It's available for Dh699 from Mumzworld (although when we checked it was out of stock), or for Dh899 from Babyshop. We tried it out for ourselves - check out the video here:

3. Fly Tot
You know that painful/numb feeling you get in an aeroplane seat after your tot has been slumped on you sleeping for a while? Yeah, that... Upgrade yourself out of toddler-induced pins-and-needles and your child into a Business-class style lie-flat bed with the Fly Tot, which allows little ones to stretch out even in economy; simply blow it up, pop it on the floor in front of their seat and watch them snuggle down in comfort. Warning: we have heard that Emirates does not allow the use of these on their flights, although there is no official information on this. Singapore Airlines has approved their use and most mums report that they have had no problems using the Fly Tot, but you may want to check with your preferred airline before buying one. From Dh350 from Mumzworld.com

9.  Piggyback Rider
While there are countless baby-carrier options, it can be trickier to find something to help your older tot’s tired legs when you are out and about in stroller-unfriendly landscapes (aside from you breaking your back trying to carry them!). We’re impressed by this Piggyback Rider, which is different from other toddler carriers in that it has a sturdy metal non-slip bar for your child to stand on. They are also in a harness clipped onto you, so they're nice and secure, and there are four different hand hold options for them to hold onto. The carrier shifts most of the weight onto your shoulders so is easier on the back, and it weighs only 1.3kg, so is no hassle to pack in your luggage. Suitable for children aged two and upwards, up to 22.5kg, Dh400 from Amazon.com
