Brought to you by the awesome team behind action-sports brand XPark Dubai, XPark Jr opened on the 8th of March and is an outdoor adventure park specifically designed for kids. Our mum reporter Kirsty Radley went to check it out:
"Hidden behind a set of vast wooden doors next to Kite Beach (location pin), XPark Jr is somewhere you'll need a good excuse to drag your kids away from.
"Mine was only a little white lie. I told them that XPark Jr was closing and we'd have to leave. Otherwise we would have been there all night, building a camp fire at the bottom of the pirate ship, eating vegetables from the veggie patch to survive. That idea only made them want to stay more, but I extricated them somehow.
"It is a unique experience. A chance to play, climb, run and splash - but not in your average park. In the forest-themed play area tall trees cast their shadows over a pirate ship and mud kitchens. Accompanied by the soothing sound of trickling water seeds can be planted into compost and watered by little hands, and sticks applied to boats that sail on rock pools. And after all this it would be impossible to visit without wanting to run through the trees, climb up rope ladders, or hide in the tree houses.
"There is so much to do it is a good job they have a Park House cafe on site, offering tasty bites with both indoor and outdoor seating. Meanwhile, should tiredness be a problem there’s also a couple of tepees hidden at the back of the park, ideal for a quick power nap, re-energising batteries to head into the small petting zoo. In there, the kids can ride a pony, feed and cuddle rabbits, and get up close to some chicks.
"An indoor play hut even provides wooden games, blackboards, chalks and a railway set – great if your kids are as obsessed by trains as mine are.
"Aimed at children between 1 - 12 years old this is a great addition to Dubai’s growing number of family-friendly attractions. Set across the road from Kite Beach it’s got plenty of parking, is completely buggy friendly and has toilets and extensive baby changing facilities on site. This is a must do for all families with adventure-seeking little ones. Just don't forget a spare set of clothes for all the splashing they'll be doing!"
Entry is priced at Dh45 per child and one adult for two hours of free-play. Additional hours of play are 25 Dhs per hour and children under 1 year of age enter free of charge.
